Daria Deflorian, one of Italy’s most distinguished directors, actors, and writers, has established a unique presence in the European theater scene with her meticulous interpretations and powerful directorial style.

Having collaborated with renowned directors such as Nanni Moretti and Mario Martone, she has also been recognized for her acting prowess, winning the Premio Ubu Award for Best Actress (2012)and the Premio Hystrio Award (2013).

 

As a director, Deflorian continuously pushes the boundaries between literature and theater, reality and fiction, exploring the complexities of human nature and social structures. With her evocative stage compositions and compelling narratives, she has crafted a distinctive theatrical language that resonates deeply with audiences, redefining contemporary theater with each new production.

 

In 2024, Deflorian brings The Vegetarian, a theatrical adaptation of Nobel laureate Han Kang’s The Vegetarian, to the stage. This production reinterprets the novel’s themes of human desire, societal constraints, and inner transformation through a modern theatrical lens. With its intense performances and striking stage design, La Vegetarianapromises to deliver a profoundly immersive and thought-provoking experience.
